Leading education event throws spotlight on occupational & industrial skills, continuing education & professional development
 
November 1, 2017 – Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX) Autumn Edition 2017, the latest edition of the leading student recruitment platform in the Middle East and Asia, has opened today (Wednesday, November 1, 2017) at Hall 5 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre to help more than 5,000 learners around the region find the right educational choice from over 600 courses.

 

The region’s most trusted event for higher education features a wide variety of study streams from over 50 regional and international universities located in eight countries, which are set to open their admissions between November 2017 and April 2018. The courses are focused on occupational and industrial skills, continuing education courses and other professional development offerings.

HBMSU meets with Fujairah University

HBMSU meets with Fujairah University to discuss smart learning
UAE, October 4, 2017 – Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Al Awar received Prof. Dr. Mohammed Gharseldin, Chancellor of Fujairah University, and his delegates who recently paid the HBMSU a visit to gain insights into its fundamental smart learning initiatives. The visit formed part of Fujairah University’s efforts to build a smart learning environment and learn from HBMSU’s relevant experiences, including but not limited to technology, pedagogy, expansion of library facilities, and research activities. 
 
 
The meeting was also a follow-up on their previous collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing the quality of learning in the country to help make the current and future generations globally competitive according to UAE Vision 2021. During the visit, both parties shared key overviews of their respective institution. Dr. Al Awar also took the opportunity to invite the delegates to be part of the upcoming Innovation Arabia 11 conference.
 
 


HBMeU launches three educational initiatives leveraging social networking platform

‘HBMeU Connect’ featuring HBMeU’s commitment to fulfilling its pledge of accessible learning anytime, anywhere
Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), a leader in the field of e-Learning and quality management in the Arab World, has announced the launch of three educational initiatives under the ‘HBMeU Connect’ media platform, which leverages the power of social networking. ‘HBMeU Connect’ was officially launched by Dr. Saeed Al Hassani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at GETEX Spring 2012, the Middle East’s leading education, training and professional development event being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 19 to 21, 2012.

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University has launched ‘HBMeU Connect’ in line with its commitment to fulfilling its pledge of accessible learning anytime, anywhere, recognizing the importance of flexible and accessible learning tools and resources. The HBMeU Connect media platform – which is comprised of HBMeU Podcasts, HBMeU Mobile App and HBMeU YouTube channel – enables current and prospective learners to stay up-to-date with the latest events at HBMeU and even watch live streaming videos of HBMeU events.
HBMeU Podcasts are produced by the HBMeU Learners’ Council, and are audio podcasts made by learners for learners. The HBMeU YouTube channel is a dedicated HBMeU channel on YouTube to promote and disseminate e-Learning in the Arab World, making HBMeU the first university in the region to do so. The first phase of the HBMeU Mobile Learning application, the first-of-its-kind initiative in the GCC and the Middle East that fulfils HBMeU’s commitment to provide accessible learning anytime, anywhere, will be available on iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices. The application provides a convenient platform for learners to stay up-to-date with the latest events at HBMeU.

ALHOSN discusses ‘Critical Thinking in Higher Education’ at Region’s largest English as a Foreign Language Conference

Delegates from ALHOSN University’s English Department join 18th International TESOL Arabia Conference in Dubai
 
Dubai, UAE, April, 2012 – The English Department of ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high-quality, value-based education, recently fielded nine delegates to TESOL Arabia’s 18th  International Conference and Exhibition 2012 held at Dubai Women’s College.  The group included faculty members Hassan Mustapha, Hassan Belhiah, Mark Neville, Richard Baltus, Amanda Tinnin, Mongi Baratli, Chantal Mercier, Maha Elhami, and May Elhami.

Held under the theme ‘Achieving Excellence Through Life Skills Education,’ this year’s conference gathered over 1,000 delegates and offered participants a wide range of professional development opportunities including presentations by plenary and featured speakers, concurrent sessions, and specialized professional development courses. Delegates also availed of the opportunity to see the latest teaching aids and tools up close during the Innovative Materials Showcase as well as new books and other literary materials from international publishers and distributors displayed during the TESOL Arabia Exhibition.

Dr. Hassan Belhiah, Associate Professor at ALHOSN’s English Department, delivered a presentation titled ‘Thinking Critically in English: Challenges and Opportunities.’ In his presentation, Dr. Belhiah explained the process of launching new curricula that focus on problem-solving and critical thinking. The presentation walked the audience through the decision-making process involved in the development of the critical thinking component with a view to enabling participants to design effective critical thinking tasks taking into account their students’ proficiency level in English.  The audience had the opportunity to see the materials and resources used during the process, including exams, tasks, materials, and online references.
The presentation concluded with a set of recommendations on the effective integration of critical thinking into curricula that foster students’ expert thinking and promote the level of cognition needed in a globalizing economy and culture.

Injazat supports Abu Dhabi Men’s College sustainability advocacy at 8th Engineering Excellence Forum

Young Emiratis look at clean technologies to drive development
The Higher Colleges of Technology’s Abu Dhabi Men’s College (ADMC) has today (Tuesday, April 17, 2012) conducted its 8thEngineering Excellence Forum to advocate ‘greener’ approaches to development. Held under the theme ‘Carbon Capture and Storage: A Strategy to Reduce Global Emissions,’ the forum familiarized participants with carbon capture storage (CCS) technology and discussed a more sustainable development roadmap for the UAE.

Injazat Data Systems, one of the forum’s sponsors, said that the UAE would benefit from heightened environmental awareness. The company called for more corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives geared towards industry adoption of eco-friendly practices that protect the health and safety of communities. GETEX Spring – Dubai 2012 begins April 19

The spring edition of GETEX 2012, the Middle East’s leading education, training and professional development event, begins on April 19 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. GETEX 2012 will represent more than 500 institutions and provide over 2,500 academic, vocational and training programmes to an audience of over 30,000 visitors during its three-day run.
